Insider Threats: The Enemy Within

Not all cyber threats come from external hackers—many security breaches occur due to insider threats within an organization. Employees, contractors, or business partners may intentionally or unintentionally expose sensitive data, putting businesses at risk.

Types of insider threats:

Malicious insiders: Employees who deliberately leak or misuse company data for personal gain.

Negligent insiders: Individuals who accidentally expose data due to poor security practices.

Compromised insiders: Employees whose credentials have been stolen by hackers.

Organizations can mitigate insider threats by implementing strict access controls, monitoring user activity, and educating employees about cybersecurity best practices.
